ITP starts road safety campaign to aware public about traffic rules
ISLAMABAD:(APS)Sep 27,2016 -Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Tuesday started a road safety campaign that would be continued for a week, in a bid to protect the lives and property of citizens.
A special ceremony was organized at Dhokri Chowk in this regard that was graced by Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz and attended by Inspector General of Police Islamabad (IGP) Tariq Masood Yasin, SSP ITP Malik Matloob Ahmed, SP ITP Chaudhry Khalid Rashid, other police personnel, students and members of civil society.
Giving a welcome address on the occasion, SSP ITP Malik Matloob Ahmed said the ITP had observed a good duty to ensure traffic discipline and helping the people.
He said the purpose of road safety campaign was to aware the people about traffic rules to ensure traffic disciplined on busy roads of federal capital.
Speaking on the occasion Sheikh Ansar Aziz said that MCI would extend all kind of support to ITP to control the traffic flow in Islamabad, saying that it was difficult task to control the Islamabad traffic as compare to the other cities of the country.
The MCI, he said, would fully cooperate with ITP in this regard. He asked the ITP officers to aware the public about traffic rules while observing their duties.
Mayor also expressed his resolve the take steps to more beatify the federal capital besides improving the traffic system of the city.
Addressing the participants, IGP Tariq Masood Yasin said traffic police play an important role to improve the society image of any city. He termed the ITP as face of the city and said there was a need of further steps to improve the traffic system of the city.
He said the citizens had also given some suggestions to improve the traffic system and lane discipline was a first initiative in this connection.
He appreciated the SSP ITP and his team to organize such campaign in this regard. The ITP officers and personnel have been directed to deal the citizens politely so that it would give positive message to other cities.
The IGP said four more vehicles were being provided to the ITP department that could be only be used to help the motorists, during accidents, shifting of different things and other help to the motorists.
He expressed his resolve to make the ITP a model police of the country. He asked the citizens and students to come forward to assist ITP for making traffic system more strengthen and better.
On the occasion Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz, IGP Tariq Masood Yasin and other officers along with citizens distributed pamphlets and flowers among the people to aware them about traffic rules.
