ISLAMABAD:(APS) July 06;Candidate for the slot of Chairman UC 30, Islamabad, Raja Jahangir Akhtar of Monday bitterly criticised Senate for declaring local bodies’ elections in Islamabad as unconstitutional.
He said that Supreme Court should take note of the contempt of court by the politicians while government should immediately summon joint session of the Parliament to resolve the issue.
The legislators of Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are working against the interests of people of Islamabad, he said.
The leaders of two parties supported LG polls for Islamabad in the National Assembly but foiled the same in the Senate which is amazing.
He said that these leaders are getting tens of million in perks and privileges but have delivered nothing despite the directions of the Supreme Court for legislation in this regard within five months.
The veteran social activist said that people of Islamabad are facing various problems which could be tackled by public representatives.
CDA has become hub of corruption which is infested with ghost employees. Officers have no say while union dictates everything. The union leaders are involved in plunder of resources which 60 percent employees including thousands of gardeners are getting salaries without discharging their duties.
Street lights, water supply, drainage, rain water drainage, parks, grounds and all civic facilities are deteriorating with a fast pace .
Those who are making laws for Islamabad have nothing to do with the plight of the masses, he said, adding that he has summoned all the candidates to make a line of action.
He announced to hold a hunger strike after Eid if politicians continued conspiracies.
