ISLAMABAD:(APS)April 10: To combat crime effectively and address the public complaints on immediate basis, a new police station was inaugurated in Islamabad on Friday.
The IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan formally inaugurated this new Khana Police Station and MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar, AIG (Operations)) Sultan Azam Temuri, SSP (Operations) Mir Vais Niaz, SP ((Rural) Yasir Afridi, SP Traffic Khalid Rasheed, SDPOs and notables of the area were also present on the occasion.
The new police station will have the jurisdiction of Murree Road Orchard Scheme towards Faizabad, Expressway, Lahore Road towards Khana Bridge including Service Road towards Rawalpindi, Khana Bridge area towards Barma Chowk, Margallah town Phase-1 & II, Pona Fiqran Sohan,, Azhar Town, Nai Abadi Sohann, Nazakat Market, Muhammadi Town Nizam Uddin Town, Iqbal Town, Zia Masjid, Shakrial, Malik Nawaz Town, Garden Town, Madina Town, Waheed Abad, Ashraf town, Pindorian, Barma town and Jaba Teli.
Inspector Ch. Siddique has been appointed as its first Station House Officer and all necessary support has been provided to him.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan said that Islamabad has witnessed reduction in crime rate during the last three months. He said that 60 attempt to murder, three kidnapping for ransom, 12 dacoity cases, 100 incidents off snatching items, 70 theft cases were registered during this year as compared to 73 attempt to murder cases, two kidnapping for ransom, 24 dacoity cases, 186 incidents of snatching items and 117 theft cases during the last year.
He said that car theft incidents also reduced upto 42 per cent this year while decline of 21 per cent was witnessed in bike lifting incidents.
He said significant success has been achieved due to effective monitoring and vigilance strategy of the police adopted after the special directions from Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan.
The IGP said that purpose of establishing new police station is to remedy the complaints of citizens on immediate basis and ensure effective policing. He said that cooperation of citizens is very much crucial for effective policing and hoped that new police station will ensure high vigilance and success against crime in the area.
