ISLAMABAD:(APS)November 28, 2015- Inspector General of Police Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has directed all police officials to ensure elaborate security arrangements in Capital on eve of polling day on November 30 when people will cast their vote at various polling stations.
He made these directions to them here at meeting held on Saturday to review security arrangements for local bodies elections on November 30. The IGP said peaceful and conductive environment for voters will be on top priority of police so that they may cast their vote independently.
The meeting was attended among others by DIG Muhammad Khalid Khatak, SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani, SSP (Security) Mir Vais Niaz, SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob Ahmed, all SPs, DSPOs, SHOs and other police officials. The IGP reviewed the law and order situation and meeting finalized effective strategy regarding security for local bodies’ elections in Islamabad on Monday.
Islamabad police chief directed all police officials to conduct complete checking of buildings before start of polling and maintain close liaison with Returning Officers for peaceful holding of elections.
He said that metal detectors should be used for checking purpose and women police employees to be also careful at female polling stations.
He said that implementation on code of conduct issued by Election Commission would be ensured at every cost and display of weapons as well as aerial firing would be completely banned.
The IGP said it should be ensured after meeting with candidates that no rally of aerial firing would be made after announcement of the successful candidates.
He said those violating code of conduct will be dealt strictly and peace and tranquility in the city to be ensured at every cost. The IGP said that every police official would have to demonstrate responsible attitude and action would be taken in case of any violation in their respective jurisdiction.
Tahir Alam Khan also directed to high vigilance at entry as well exit points of the city and said that contingents of Pakistan Rangers and Reserve police would also assist Islamabad police for effective security measures.
The SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani also briefed the police officials deputed for the security purpose and said that peaceful conduct of election would help in promoting the peaceful image of the country which believes in democratic process in true letter and spirit. He asked them to remain complete impartial and ensure implementation on code of conduct issued by Election Commission.
He said that security of polling staff should be also ensured. The peaceful holding of elections would bring further good name for Islamabad police, the SSP added.
