ISLAMABAD:(APS)October 15, 2015-Islamabad Police along with contingents of Pakistan Rangers on Thursday conducted flag march with an objective to maintain peace and tranquility in the city during Muharram ul Haram.
The flag march was conducted under the supervision of SP (City) Ahmed Iqbal which was participated by SDPOs and SHOs of City Zone police stations, officials of Pakistan Rangers, Islamabad Traffic Police, Police Commandos, Rescue 15 police and police patrolling officials.
Flag march started from Convention center and culminated at GPO Chowk after passing through Serena Hotel, Sehrwardi road, Aabpara, Sunday Bazaar, PS Aabpara, Melody Market, Ambassador Hotel, Lal Quarter Chowk, Imam Bargah G-6/2, Fazal-Haq road, Kalsoom Plaza Chowk, G-7/3 Service road, Iqbal Hall Chowk and G-7 Markaz.
SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has said that Islamabad police have ensured detailed security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. He said that police would accomplish responsibility in an efficient manner to ensure protection to lives and property of citizens. He also directed to launch an effective search operation within their jurisdictions including slum areas where most of the inhabitants are Afghans.
He said that Islamabad Police have made full preparations for high alert security on the eve of Muharram Ul Haram and duty roasters have been compiled. He said operational policemen have been assigned their duties and special control room has been established to ensure effective coordination among all wings of Islamabad police and assisting security agencies.
SSP Islamabad said that purpose of this flag march was to show preparedness of police and other law enforcement agencies during the Muharram ul Haram in order to counter any challenge and maintain peace in the city. He also directed all the SDPOs and the SHOs to make effective security arrangements in their respective areas. Mr. Kiani said that that Islamabad Police would maintain a close liaison with peace committees and organizers of Muharram Majalis and processions.
