Elimination of land-grabbing Mafia top priority: IGP Ahsan Younas

Islamabad police arrested 36 criminals

ISLAMABAD: 27 Feb, 2022: Islamabad Police have arrested 36 accused including criminals gangs in last 48 hours from different areas of the city and recovered gold ornaments, vehicles, mobile phones and cash, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

He said that, following orders of the IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas, a massive crackdown against criminals in the city is on full swing.

Following the orders, a police team headed by SHO Bhara Kahu arrested four accused including a lady involved in house robbery. The accused were identified as Rashid Mehmood, Junaid, Ehsan and Musarrat bibi. Gold ornamnets worth Rs. 1200,000 were also recovered from their possession.

Furthermore, a police team of Sihala police station arrested two accused involved in stealing vehicles. The accused were identified as Majid Hussain and Zubair Rasheed from which three vehicles have been recovered. The accused were used to sell the stolen vehicles in KPK.

Meanwhile, a police team of Industrial Area police station arrested six accused involved in pick pocketing in Sunday bazaar. Police team also recovered 07 mobile phones and cash. Investigation from all the arrested accused is still underway.

A CIA Police team has arrested 03 accused identified as Shakir Ullah, Asmat Ullah and Ehtasham Ul Haq and recovered weapons, 05 mobile phone and cash worth Rs. 65,000. The accused were involved in looting people on gun point in areas of Sabzi Mandi, Industrial Area and Koral. Six cases have been registered in the above mentioned police stations. Further investigation is underway from them.

Spokesman further stated that Bani gala police during snap checking arrested an accused Bilal Hassan and recovered one SMG with ammunition, Karachi Company police arrested three accused Ibrahim, Aashoor and Bazaid Khan and recovered two 9mm pistols and one 12 bore gun.

Secretariat police arrested two accused namely Waleed Ahmad and Muhammad Ilyas and recovered 135 gram hashish and iron punch. Bani Gala police arrested a drug peddler Shehzad Bukhari and recovered 154 gram hashish. Similarly, Golra and Tarnol police arrested 07 accused Ahmad Bilal, Ibrar, Taimoor, Ajmal, Shahid, Muhammad Arslan and Safoor Khan and recovered six pistols with ammunition and 07 bottles liquor.

Noon police arrested an accused Asad Mehmood and recovered 10 liters liquor while Sabzi Mandi police arrested two accused Ijaz Khan and Farhad and recovered one pistol and knife. Koral police also arrested three accused Junaid Masih, Hukmran and Ehtasham and recovered two pistols and liquor.

Cases against all the arrested accused have been registered and further investigation is underway.

IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has appreciated this overall performance of the police teams and further directed to intensify the security in their respective areas. He said that Islamabad Police is taking all out efforts for the safety and security of the citizens.

While Islamabad Police have apprehended 06 land grabbers during it’s operation against land grabbing mafia in the city, a police spokesman said.

He said that, a grand operation against land grabbers is going on following the special directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas.

On Saturday, police received a call from a citizen that some land grabbers and their operatives are trying to accupy his land. SP Rural Zia Uddin immediately directed DSP Koral to respond the scene following which DSP, SHO Koral Muhammad Azeem Minhas along with team responded timely and arrested 06 accused. Police team also seized weapons and Vigo vehicle.

 A case FIR No. 445/22 u/s 506ii/447/511/109/148/149 PPC in PS Koral has been registered against the accused.

The arrested land grabbers were identified as Tasawar Iqbal, Nasir, Ehtasham, Rabnawaz, Imran Shoukat and Zakir. The accused told during investigation that they were occupying the land on behest of notorious land grabber Farrukh Khokhar.

IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has said that Islamabad police is active against qabza Mafia and its operatives.

Such elements should be brought to justice in any case. Illegal occupation of any citizen’s property will not be tolerated at all. Citizens are also requested to report any such incident to the police immediately.
