7-day deadline given to police officials to forward pending cases to courts

ISLAMABAD:(APS) February 24, 2015: Inspector General of Police Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has given timeframe of one week to all  police  officials to submit challans of pending cases in the courts after completing investigation on them.

 In his special directions during a meeting here on Tuesday, he directed all investigation officers to focus on completion of investigation on pending cases and submit their challans in the courts as per judicial policy. DIG Khalid Khattak, AIGs Sultan Azam Temuri, Waqar Chohan and SSP Islamabad Mir Vais Niaz and other police officials were also present on the occasion.

He was given a detailed briefing regarding crime situation in the city and steps being taken to curb it. The IGP also directed police officials to take effective steps to control crime and adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.

He ordered the police officials to ensure eight hours duty of policemen at pickets, brief them on regular basis and keep them alert to avoid any untoward incident.

He stressed for speedy disposal of cases and their investigation purely on merit. “Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve the humanity with devotion,” the IGP maintained.

He reviewed the progress of all police officials and said that an effective strategy is vital to control crime. He also ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offender and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and are still at large.  He directed to focus

on resolving public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens.

He said those police officials responsible in delaying the registration of cases and doing sluggish investigation would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.

The IGP said that  Islamabad Police is determined to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and no stone will be leave unturned to accomplish this responsibility.

He also directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis following the merit to win the confidence and support of the people for cops’ department.
