We need institutional arrangement for the safety of journalists: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

ISLAMABAD: July 17, 2017-Chairman People Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressed the press in Meet the Press event at National Press Club on Monday. Bilawal Bhutto discussed the current scenario of the country and manifesto of the party on on-going Panama papers scandal.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while discussing JIT report said ‘People’s Party has been demanding the Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to resign, based on the findings of Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The resignation is in the interest if democracy, stability of Pakistan. The whole state has been paralyzed on his indecisions. Resignation of Prime Minister is the need of time and it will strengthen democracy’. On briefing about PPPP’ stance he said ‘PPPP will use all political and legal rights and methods for dealing with this issue. Whole opposition is on one page when it comes to Panama papers scandal. He said that we will absolutely go on roads if Sharif government will not accept rule of law. Laying criticism on the PML(N) government Bilawal said

‘The government clearly is not interested in transparency and accountability’.

He admired the role of media and said ‘We are aware of the problems and issues that journalist’s community is facing. The PPPP and media community of Pakistan have a long history of joint struggle against the forces of military dictatorship and extremism, a joint struggle for human rights, freedom and equality for all in Pakistan. This joint struggle is indeed noted in the history books of Pakistan. He demanded an end to the impunity with which crimes are committed against media persons and said
