ISLAMABAD: June 15, 2021, Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that electronic voting machine is our top priority and we are hopeful that electronic machine will be used in the next by-elections.
During a news briefing after the meeting of the Federal Cabinet, Fawad Chaudhry said, “Today’s meeting started with the issue of electronic voting machine. In our last meeting with the Election Commission, we had requested for a practical demonstration of the machines. A presentation was given to the Commission this week.” In which the members of the commission asked questions which were answered by the experts. The technology of machine-making companies and Comsats is in line with the 36-point agenda of the commission, so the technology has come as per the wishes of the Election Commission and we are hopeful that next. Electronic machines will be used in the by-elections.
He further said that in the meeting, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs informed the Cabinet that a bill in this regard has been passed by the National Assembly and henceforth it has been sent to the Senate and a report on NADRA system has been submitted.
He said that “Electronic voting machine is our top priority and since then we have been pushing for e-voting for Pakistanis abroad,”.
