ISLAMABAD:(APS)Oct 8.2015-Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid has wondered how PTI was allotted party symbol in the last general elections despite being in violation of the Political Parties Act.
He was addressing a news conference in PID Islamabad on Thursday evening.
He pointed out that under the Political Parties Act, all parties are required to submit their accounts including sources of their funds before allotment of election symbols.
He said a founding member of PTI Akbar Babar S Ahmad brought to the notice of the Election Commission that he raised funds for the party in the United States. These funds were used for sit-ins, protests and destabilization of the elected Government in Pakistan.
He said has caused great damage to countryor foreigners. The PTI raised funds from foreign firms whose owners are Jews, Hindus and Sikhs.
The Minister asked Election Commission why it did not take notice of the petition of Akbar Babar for 13 months and how it proceeded to allot the party symbol to PTI without submission of accounts and disclosing sources of funding.
