Muzaffarabad :(APS)October 15,2016-President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the international community to fulfil pledges made for the resolution of Kashmir dispute through a fair and transparent plebiscite.
He was addressing the joint sitting of the AJK Legislative Assembly and AJK Council in Muzaffarabad on Saturday.
The President said Indian leadership itself had taken the dispute to the United Nations Security Council but regretted that now it is backtracking from its promises.
He said Pakistan has kept the doors of dialogue open with India but these cannot go hand in hand with persecution of defenseless and innocent Kashmiri people.
Mamnoon Hussain said that given the close affinities with Kashmiri people, Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the oppressed Kashmiri people in their just struggle for right to self determination.
The President asked the Indian government to release detained Hurriyat leaders, abolish black laws, lift curfew, stop the reign of terror and demilitarize occupied Kashmir.
Paying glowing tributes to sacrifices rendered by Kashmiri people, the President said the day is not far away when the people of occupied Kashmir will also see the dawn of independence as no power of the world can deprive them of their birth right for ever.
President Mamnoon Hussain noted that the freedom movement has taken a new turn since the martyrdom of freedom fighter Burhan Wani.
Mamnoon Hussain also expressed satisfaction over the ongoing development schemes in Azad Kashmir.
He assured that the federal government will provide all possible resources for provision of education, health and other basic facilities to the people of Azad Kashmir.
In his address, the AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said India is hatching conspiracies against Pakistan to sabotage multi billion dollars China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
Speaking on the occasion, the opposition leader in the AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhary Yasin thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for forcefully raising Kashmir dispute at the UN General Assembly.
During a meeting with Members Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir at Muzaffarabad, President said that with the completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects Pakistan will witness an unprecedented era of progress.
He said CPEC is a landmark project which includes Gwadar airport, infrastructure and energy projects and hoped that the whole country will get rid of the menace of load-shedding upon completion of ongoing projects by 2018.
He urged the women to acquire education and play their due role in the development of the country while at the same time upholding their cultural values and traditions.
The AJK President Muhammad Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan jointly called on President Mamnoon Hussain in Muzaffarabad today.
During the meeting, matters relating to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the independence struggle of the people of occupied Kashmir were discussed.
They said President Mamnoon’s visit will infuse new spirit in the freedom struggle of the people of Kashmir.
