WASHINGTON:(APS)Nov 19,2015-Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif had a meeting with US Senate Armed Services Committee at Capitol Hill in Washington on Thursday.
Chairman of the Committee Senator John McCain appreciated the longstanding Pak-US defence cooperation and emphasized the need to further reinforce this partnership in view of emerging developments.
Senator John McCain also appreciated efforts, sacrifices and steadfastness of Pakistan Armed Forces especially the leadership of the Army Chief in the fight against terror.
General Raheel Sharif gave clear regional security perspective and highlighted the need for stepped up Pak-Afghan border management and sustained cooperation to deal with emerging threats.
Talking to members of the US Senate Committee on Intelligence, the Army Chief emphasized that terrorism is a global threat and warrants coordinated global response.
Senator Richard Burr and Feinstein noted that Pakistan Army’s perseverance and commitment had degraded militants in North Waziristan.
Leadership of intelligence Committee assured the Army Chief of US support and cooperation in eradicating terrorism and extremism.
