ISLAMABAD (APS) March 30, 2016– The government has decided to conduct an operation in order to remove the protestors from the Red Zone area after the latter did not evacuate the area within the deadline given by the government on Tuesday, reported APS News.
Islamabad police, Frontier Corps (FC) and Rangers have assumed control of the Red Zone. One thousand officers belonging to the Punjab constabulary will also take part in the operation. Police has been equipped with large sums of tear gas shells.
The responsibility of the exterior security of sensitive buildings in the area, including the Parliament house, Prime Minster house, Aiwan-e-Sadar and the Supreme Court building, has been given to Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) commandos and Rangers, whereas Pakistan army will be responsible to maintain the inner-security of these buildings. Army personnel have been deployed on the roofs of these buildings as well.
Armoured vehicles, ambulances, prison vans have been delivered to the D-Chowk area whereas fire-brigade vehicles and emergency services have been placed on high alert and emergency has been declared in the hospitals of the area.
