ISLAMABAD:(APS)July 29, 2016-Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal has said progress is not possible without political stability and continuity of policies.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of Pakistan Population Report in Islamabad on Friday.
Ahsan Iqbal said all indicators are showing positive trend in Pakistan’s development.
He highlighted the need to overcome the mindset of poverty along with curbing the economic poverty. He said alleviation of poverty is the biggest challenge for any country.
The Planning Minister said Government is focusing on development of human resources and has increased the budget of Higher Education Commission from 0.1 to 0.2 trillion rupees.
He lauded the efforts of BISP in eradicating poverty.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson Benazir Income Support Program Marvi Memon said fifty million people are getting financial assistance from the program.
She said BISP is the country’s only program that gives money to people.
