PM approves action plan to improve human rights situation

Pakistan's PM Sharif speaks during news conference with Thailand counterpart Yingluck in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:(APS)FEB 13,2016-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved an action plan to improve human rights situation in the country.

According to the plan, an amount of four hundred million rupees will be provided for human rights education, sensitization, awareness, research and communication.

One hundred fifty million rupees will be allocated during the current fiscal year through a supplementary grant while 250 million rupees through budgetary allocations in the next fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has announced relief package for the heirs of PIA employees killed and those injured during recent protest in Karachi.

Heirs of those killed would get 2.5 million rupees each while the injured will be paid five hundred thousand rupees each.

The Prime Minister also announced provision of employment as per qualification to one member of the family of those killed.

He said killing of employees is the loss of families and institution as well.

He said investigations are continuing into the incident and the aggrieved families will be kept abreast with the progress.
