PFUJ strongly condemns PML-N’s character assassination campaign against female journalist Shifa Yousafzai

ISLAMABAD: (December 19, 2022-The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has strongly condemned the abuse and character assassination campaign by the Muslim League-N workers against the female host of Hum News TV’s morning show Shifa Yousafzai. Nawaz Sharif,Shahbaz Sharif,Maryam Nawaz and Ahsan Iqbal have been demanded to take disciplinary action against the Muslim League workers who made baseless accusations against Shifa Yousafzai so as to discourage trolling against journalists. PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary General Arshad Ansari have said in their joint statement that “organised trolling” is a modern form of censorship which has become the biggest weapon to suppress freedom of speech and freedom of press. PFUJ has appealed to all the political parties and civil society of Pakistan to cooperate with PFUJ to stop systematic trolling against journalists so that the character assassination campaign against various male and female journalists can be ended.
