ISLAMABAD: August 13,2020: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have criticised the cancelation declaration of Islamabad-based Daily FIR by the the deputy commissioner Islamabad.
In joint statement by President PFUJ Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi have urged the deputy commissioner and chief commissioner to immediately withdraw the cancelation order.

While the newspaper management says that
1. No show cause notice was ever issued to the newspaper by the ministry of information and paper was ordered to be closed without any show cause notice.
2. No complaint was lodged by anyone against the newspaper in Pakistan Press Council which is the forum for redressal of grievances by any affected party.
3. The notice itself is vague and a vague excuse of so-called “inciting the public” has been used without explaining when did it happen nor any news published by our newspaper has been cited or pinpointed by the Registrar of the MOI to establish the so-called “charge”.
4. The order issued by the DC on the direction of MOI is in violation of right to free expression guaranteed by the constitution and an attempt to silence the free press in this country which is already under unannounced censorship.
