PFUJ condemns arrest of Chaman-based journalists

ISLAMABAD: June 21,2020: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have strongly condemned the arrest of two Chaman-based journalists from Balochistan, Saeed Ali Achakzai and Abdul Mateen Achakzai, who were later sent to Mach jail without any investigation and prosecution by the deputy commissioner, under maintenance of public order 16.

PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi in a joint statement said: “Their only crime was that they were committed to exposing the, reportedly inhumane quarantine arrangement at the border. Journalists are duty bound to report what they see, so that authorities can take proper measures.”

They have demanded for immediate release of the two journalists. The PFUJ have also called upon the journalist community, to stay united during this difficult time.
