ISLAMABAD:(APS)November 2, 2016-Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says it is for the first time that the country has successfully completed macro-economic reforms program.
Addressing the cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, he expressed satisfaction over the economic performance of the country during the last three years.
The Prime Minister said this performance has also been recognized by world financial institutions.
He said that we would have to work day and night to improve the economic lot and address the problems of the people.
Talking about Panama Papers, the Prime Minister said it is a matter of great satisfaction for him that the issue will be resolved at the forum of Supreme Court.
Nawaz Sharif said he had personally prayed the court to form a commission on Panama Papers. For this purpose, a law was drafted and a parliamentary committee was also constituted but all-out efforts could not bear fruits due to non-cooperation by the opposition.
He said those agitating wanted to resolve the matter on streets. He thanked the people for rejecting the politics of street agitation.
The Prime Minister appreciated efforts of Interior Minister and the law enforcement institutions for establishing writ of state.
The Federal Cabinet approved inter-governmental framework agreements for Sukkur-Multan section of Peshawar-Karachi motorway, and Havelian-Thakot section of Karakoram Highway.
It also approved establishment of electronic data exchange under Pakistan-China free trade; understandings for cooperation between ministries of food of Pakistan and Belarus; and understandings for cooperation for training of work force between Pakistan and Oman and human development between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
It endorsed Paris Agreement about climate change and the signing of regulations for defence cooperation between Pakistan and Czech Republic.
The Cabinet, however, deferred decisions on return of the Afghan refugees and matter relating to National Maritime Policy 2015 for a broader consensus.
The federal cabinet constituted a committee headed by Defence Production Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain to investigate explosion at Gaddani ship breaking yard.
At the outset of the meeting, the cabinet offered fateha for martyrs of Quetta police training tragedy and loss of life in Gadaani ship.
