ISLAMABAD (APS) APRIL 5,2016– Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that the investigations pertaining to Panama Papers leaks have been launched in the entire world except Pakistan, APS News reported Tuesday.
The PTI leader visited anti-terrorism court (ATC) to express solidarity with the party workers nominated in Pakistan Television (PTV) and Parliament attack case.
Khan hailed the arrested workers of the party as heroes of the democracy who staged sit-in against rigging. He said that it is unjust to keep the case pending for as many as 20 months.
He said that the party opted for peaceful protest after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the judiciary did not give justice. He said that filing terrorism cases against the workers is wrong. He requested the court to dissolve the case as workers from across the country are bound to reach the federal capital for hearing.
The party would be forced to protest again if attitude towards the workers is not changed, he added.
Cases were registered against numerous PTI workers for vandalising building of the state-owned television channel and attempting to enter the Parliament in 2014 when Khan had led the longest in history sit-in at D-Chowk lasting for more than four months.
While talking about the massive leak of Panama-based law firm that exposed offshore dealings and companies of more than 140 world leaders and notable figures from all across, Khan said that India, Australia and other countries have launched probes.
He alleged Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif of laundering money and being involved in illegal offshore dealings.
Earlier on Monday, Khan said that the leaks could not be referred to as a conspiracy against the rulers as Panama is a place where all the money earned through corruption is deposited.
He said that he has been raising his concerns in this regard for the past 20 years but now the looters have been curbed, “thanks to God Almighty”.
He stated that there should be no doubts over the credibility of this piece of information as this is a chunk of data that has been retrieved from the data-bank.
Referring to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers, Khan said that those who belong to the party and are concerned about the country need to talk on this, adding that this is not a matter of concern for his children instead it caters to the future of all the children of Pakistan.
