Pakistan’s military leadership supports good relations with the United States

ISLAMABAD: July 3, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The military and intelligence leadership have taken a more controversial approach in the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security on the future of relations with the United States than the recent statements of the government.

Some parliamentary leaders who attended the meeting told Dawn about the meeting and said that the military and intelligence leadership had emphasized that where relations with China are strong and not sacrificed. What can be done is to maintain good relations with the United States.

The meeting was held on Thursday and continued late into the night.

Discussions at the meeting focused on the regional environment, strategic challenges facing the country and the internal and security situation.

Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed gave a presentation on the issue at the meeting.

The lawmakers were interested in learning about Pakistan’s military views on relations with the United States, which has been embroiled in controversy over the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan and the growing conflict between the United States and China.
