Pakistan regrets Indian reaction over F-16s deal with US

ISLAMABAD:(APS)FEB 14,2016-Foreign Office spokesperson says India is the largest importer of defence equipment and its arms and arsenal stock is much larger than Pakistan.

Pakistan has expressed disappointment at the Indian government’s reaction regarding purchase of F-16s from the United States.

In response to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson said in Islamabad that Indian government’s reaction surprised and disappointed Pakistan.

He said India is the largest importer of defence equipment and its arms and arsenal stock is much larger than Pakistan.

As regards F-16s sale, the Spokesperson said Pakistan and the United States closely cooperate in countering terrorism.

He said the US spokesperson clearly announced that the sale is to enhance Pakistan’s precision strike capability.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria says international community is acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism.

In an interview, he said terrorism is not the issue of Pakistan’s alone, rather is a worldwide phenomenon.

The spokesperson said the United States is providing F-16 jets to Pakistan to fight terrorism.

He said Pakistan is still waiting a positive response from India regarding Samjhota Express incident.

He rejected the allegations levelled by the under detention accused David Headley, saying his statement carries no weight.
