ISLAMABAD:(APS)March 25, 2016-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says Pakistan is desirous of bringing greater depth and economic substance to its relationship with the United States.
He was talking to the US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale who called on him in Islamabad today.
Nawaz Sharif said important decisions agreed during his visit to the United States have generated a new momentum in steering the bilateral relations forward.
He said Pak-US strategic dialogue has been instrumental in identifying the achievements made so far and setting new targets under six working groups.
He said he looks forward to have useful exchange of views on bilateral issues with President Obama during his visit to attend the Nuclear security summit later this month.
Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan has a vital stake in peace, stability and development in Afghanistan and is engaged in sincere and consistent efforts for promoting reconciliation through an Afghan owned and Afghan led peace process.
The US ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for revival of peace in Afghanistan.
He said peace in Afghanistan is in the interest of entire region and Pakistan’s endeavors in this regard will help a great deal.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the concerned authorities to train crew and staff of Pakistan Airways from best institutions and state of the art services for passengers, not less than any international standards, must be ensured.
He gave these instructions while chairing a meeting on the Aviation affairs in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister said except core business, rest of the services should be outsourced to meet the professional standards of the airline.
He stressed that the airline should set high service standards in the world for being the face of the country.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there should be lean management structure for optimizing airlines’ efficiency and service delivery, and the emoluments structure should commensurate with the quality of human resource.
The meeting was informed about the steps being taken for creating a premier airline that should be a reflection of the past image of the national flag carrier internationally.
The meeting reviewed progress on bringing the premier airline Pakistan Airways at par with international airlines.
