ISLAMABAD:(APS)Oct 29,2015-Mr. J Salik addressed an important Press Conference on the issue of Municipal Elections today at his residence. On the occasion J Salik said that we highly condemned the selection system in so-called Municipal Elections in the country. After 13 years the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave decision in the favor of minorities that minorities also have the right of electing their provincial and National representatives but government is trying the conspiracy of discrimination with minorities in municipal elections which is unbearable at any cost. He said that it’s over and we have lost our patience now, we will protest against the no implementation of Supreme Court’s decision. The Supreme Court gave clear instructions to parliament but Parliament does not seem serious in implementing the court’s orders, he said. He said that court showed its dislike on selection system and said that this method made the minorities as second class citizens and it smells like biasness with minorities. It is shameful to treat minorities’ election like reserved seats of women and labor because our flag has the representation of minorities in it, he said. He said that it is the sayings of founder Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam that no government can perform without taking minorities in confidence. He said that it’s a slap on the faces of UNO, religion and all the organizations working for human rights to implement the decisions of majority on minorities forcefully, such sort of double standard policy could work nowhere in world. He said that with violation of minority rights this municipal election could not be effective. No political party is interested in minorities’ problem but singing the song of democracy for their own purposes only. He said that the injustice with minorities is being practiced for a long time and minorities are facing ignorance in all aspects of life in the country; Minority ministry is abolished, has no representation in provincial and national assemblies, treated sanitary workers inhumanly by privatizing them and the residents of slums are spending their lives even without Basic Facilities of life (Gas, Water and Electricity).
