ISLAMABAD:(APS)Oct 1,2015-The government has announced a policy for International NGOs envisaging on-line registration and signing of MoU specifying domain and areas for working of these organizations.
The salient features of the policy were explained by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan at a news conference in Islamabad on Thursday afternoon.
He said the procedure for registration of INGOs has been simplified and the government would facilitate all those who want to work for some good cause in the country.
All INGOs will have to apply for registration in sixty days and the Ministry would also take a decision within sixty days regarding approval or otherwise.
The Minister said a Monitoring Committee is being set up in the Interior Ministry to ensure that the INGOs confine themselves to the specified activity and areas. He said previously some NGOs were working outside their allowed domain and areas.
He said the MoU would remain in force for three years and foreign nationals will need visa for their arrival in the country and the nature of the visa would not be changed.
He said registration of the INGOs found to be indulging in any illegal funding, financing, or interaction with proscribed organizations will be automatically cancelled.
