Nawaz Sharif’s direction will be decided today

ISLAMABAD (APS)July 16,2017 – Three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) is set to hear Panamagate case on Monday after the hearing was adjourned on July 10 following submission of Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report.

Justice Ijaz Afzal, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Hassan are to proceed with Panamagate case with hearings over JIT’s report.

The federally ruling party has on the other hand decided to challenge the probe team’s report. Sources have reported that legal team of the premier led by Khawaja Haris is to file a petition in the apex court tomorrow challenging the report that recommended booking PM Nawaz and his two sons in corruption reference.

Office of the Attorney General has filed in the SC scripts of speeches delivered by Khawaja Saad Rafique, Talal Chaudhry and Asif Kirmani.

Reportedly, Red Zone in the federal capital is to be sealed during the hearing and entry of people with no relevance to the case would be denied.

SC had adjourned the hearing earlier on July 10 and report of the JIT was made public.

Opposition parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People s Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Awami Muslim League (AML) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) have demanded off the premier to tender his resignation over the corruption scandal.

The apex court had taken up the case in October last year and a JIT was formed in April to look into the businesses and assets of premier s family.

After two months of time that was granted to the team by the top court, a comprehensive report was filed by the probe committee which was hailed by the opposition but criticised by the federally ruling party.

Panama Papers had published a leak of documents belonging to Mossack Fonseca, a law firm in April 2016. The leak was studied by International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and had named around 400 both incumbent and former leaders around the world who owned offshore companies.

PM Nawaz was not named in the leak but his two sons and daughter were.

Opposition parties in Pakistan interpreted owning of shell entities as family s means to stash wealth in foreign accounts, launder money out of Pakistan and evade taxes. • Free Website Templates - Downlaod Full Themes
