Nation will celebrate Independence Day on August 14


ISLAMABAD:(APS) August 13, 2016-The nation celebrates Independence Day on Sunday, 14th August with traditional zeal with pledge to safeguard the country against any threat and make it a truly Islamic welfare state as envision by founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The day will dawn with thirty-one gun salute in the federal and twenty-one gun salute at the provincial capitals.

Special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country, unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the success of the long drawn struggle of the Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.

The main event of the day will be a flag hoisting ceremony at Convention Center in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain will be the chief guest. He will address the nation on the occasion.

A simple but graceful Change of Guard ceremony will be held at Mazar-e-Iqbal on Sunday morning. People belonging to various segments of society will visit the Mazar to pay tribute to the national poet.

Flag hoisting ceremonies would also be held at the provincial capitals and district headquarters besides other important national institutions.

Meanwhile, all the major public and private buildings, roads and avenues have been decorated with illuminations, national flags, portraits of the national leaders, banners and buntings to give a festive look.

Azadi Train

Meanwhile, the special Azadi train continuing its month long countrywide journey from Peshawar has now arrived at Rawalpindi Railway Station.

The Azadi train will leave Rawalpindi for Karachi on Monday.

The train displaying different aspects of Pakistan movement as well as culture and traditions of the country will stay in Rawalpindi for two days. The general public can visit the train without any ticket.

Pakistan Railways has also decided to increase time and area of travelling of Azadi Special train to entertain maximum people.

Presiding over a meeting in Lahore, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique directed the authorities to include Faisalabad and Sargodha section in the route of the train.

He also directed to ensure a good entertainment and security of the people at those railway stations where the Azadi train is to be stopped.
