Must be united under the Constitution in national interest: President Mamnoon Hussain


ISLAMABAD (APS) August 14, 2017– The nation is celebrating the 70th Independence Day with great zeal and fervour with the commemorative ceremonies being held all over the country.

The main event of the day is currently underway at the Convention Centre Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain hoisted the Pakistani flag. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, chief guest Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang and all three chiefs of the armed services are also present on the occasion.

President Mamnoon Hussain has said as the nation happily hoists the national flag today, it needs to reiterate the strong resolve to always uphold the values of determination and dedication for the objective of development of Pakistan.

“Today let us make a firm commitment that we will adhere to our national objectives and goals. This will pave the way for better governance. It will lead to maturity of democratic traditions and will also strengthen the process of national progress,” he said in a message on the Independence Day.

“Let us join hands for development and prosperity of the motherland by keeping aside our differences. Let us promote love and harmony by overcoming hatred and misgivings and secure the future of our nation by turning despondency into hope in order to celebrate freedom in its true sense,” he


Seventy years ago while struggling for freedom, the elders had resolved that this nation through constant endeavors would make this country a cradle of peace, brotherhood and a welfare society which would be an example for the world to follow, he noted.

The president said in the wake of challenges confronted by the country today, it was imperative to promote moderation and rationality while availing the available opportunities.

He said in such a situation, it is necessary to unite under the Constitution in the national interest by setting aside differences and ensure its supremacy.

“The Constitution is a document which will show us the path to realize national objectives by rising above our personal interests.It will also guarantee progress and stability of the motherland as a manifestation of national aspirations, God Willing,” he added.

While addressing the ceremony, Chinese Vice Prime Minister congratulated Pakistan on its Independence Day. He  said that peaceful Pakistani nation is on the path of development.

He praised and acknowledged Pakistan’s hard work and progress and asserted that the country made strong efforts in strengthening its sovereignty and defense.

“Today Pakistan is included in 50 international economic powers,” he said. The vice-premier reiterated that both the countries have stood beside each other through thick and thin and will continue to do so on the future. “Pak-Sino friendship is stronger than steel and sweeter than honey,” he notified.

The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals. Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held in provincial capitals and district headquarters whereas change of guard ceremonies were held at Mazar-i-Quaid and Mazar-i-Iqbal.

Special prayers were offered for the prosperity‚ integrity and solidarity of the country‚ unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the success of the long drawn struggle of the Kashmiris after Fajr prayers. • Free Website Templates - Downlaod Full Themes
