Muslim ambassadors decide to formulate a joint strategy against blasphemous content on social media

ISLAMABAD:(APS)March 25, 2017-A meeting of Muslim Ambassadors in Islamabad on Friday decided to formulate a joint strategy to address the issue of blasphemous content on social media.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan chaired the meeting.

It was decided that a comprehensive strategy paper will be circulated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs among the ambassadors of the Muslim countries, which they will share with their governments to evolve future plan of action.

A formal reference will also be sent to Secretary General of the Arab League and Secretary General of OIC raising the issue of blasphemous content on social media.

The meeting decided that after response is received from the government of the Islamic countries, the matter then will be taken up at the level of United Nations.

Besides, legal options will be explored to follow up the matter legally in the courts of the respective countries from where such content is being generated.

Addressing the meeting Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said the Islamic Ummah must strive together to impress upon the international community to shed off Islamophobia.

He said distortion of any religion is also another form of terrorism that the international community must acknowledge.

He said sections of the Western world must get out of double standards about Islam and the Muslims.
