ISLAMABAD:(APS)April 10, 2017-Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed the resolve to eliminate electricity load-shedding from the country in the shortest possible time.
Presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee on energy in Islamabad on Monday, he said the government has steadfastly worked in the last three years to achieve this cherished goal, which is its highest priority.
Prime Minister said more than 8,000 megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid before June next year.
He said that the government is not only focusing on the prevailing energy shortfalls in the country, but also determined to cope with the growing future requirements.
Prime Minister directed early completion of power projects without compromising on efficiency and quality of work.
The meeting was informed that a total of 5,710 Megawatts will be added to the system by the end of this year.
The Committee approved new LNG-based gas connections for domestic, industrial and commercial consumers.
