LONDON:(APS)Gen Raheel Sharif says Indian intransigence, LoC violations, indirect strategy against Pakistan is negatively affecting region.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said that Kashmir dispute is an unfinished agenda of partition and the world must help resolve it for the sake of genuine peace in the region.

He was speaking at Royal United Services Institute London, an independent think tank on defence and security.

The Army Chief said Indian intransigence, violations of Line of Control and indirect strategy against Pakistan is negatively affecting the region. He said Kashmir dispute is root cause of all issues between Pakistan and India.

About Afghanistan, he said Pakistan will continue to support all efforts for enduring and permanent peace in Afghanistan. He warned against detractors and spoilers of these efforts. He said reconciliation is the only way forward in Afghanistan and everyone should support it.

General Raheel Sharif said Pakistan has brotherly relations blood ties with people of Afghanistan. He said border management and greater international cooperation is must for regional peace. He, however, added that anti-Pakistan propaganda must come to an end.

The Army Chief said Pakistan’s security environment is now becoming conducive for upward economic trajectory.
