ISLAMABAD:(APS)October 25, 2016- A seven member Iranian delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Seyyed Muhammad Jafar Montazeri, Attorney General of Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Mehdi Honardoost, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan, Mr. Mohammad Ali Cheragheyan, Deputy Attorney General in Narcotics Affairs of Iran, Mr. Ali Akbar Bkhtiari, Head of Attorney General’s office of Iran, Mr. Mahdiabadi, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Iran in Pakistan, Mr. Siymak Saeedi Favaedi, Incharge Technical & International Cooperation of Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Javad Kazemi, Director, Foreign Ministry of Iran, called on the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, at Supreme Court Islamabad today i.e. 25.10.2016.
Chief Justice of Pakistan welcomed the delegation and discussed issues of mutual interest. His lordship told the delegation that there are similarities between both the countries as both have similar culture and social values. Therefore, both countries can take advantage by sharing the experiences and knowledge in different fields. It will enhance the cooperation between the judiciaries of the both countries as well as other fields of mutual interests.
Chief Justice of Pakistan told the delegates that judicial academies in Pakistan established at Islamabad and at all Provincial Headquarters to impart judicial education to Judges, lawyers, prosecutors and court staff. Judicial officers of Iran can also take advantage of these judicial academies which will help in enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
The Attorney General of Islamic Republic of Iran informed his lordship about different mutual agreements between the both countries on issues of exchange of prisoners etc and emphasized the need to implement them so as to benefit the people of both countries. He requested the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan to take steps for release of Iranian people in Pakistani jails in different cases. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan assured them to consider if it is taken up through official channels.
The Iranian delegation offered condolences on the tragic incident of attack on Police Training Centre, Quetta. They also conveyed good wishes of Head of Iranian Judiciary to Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and extended a request to visit Iran.
The delegation presented the Quran with Persian translation and souvenir to Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan as token of respect and gesture of goodwill. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan also reciprocated the gesture by presenting a memento on the occasion.
