I will resign and go home if proven guilty: PM Nawaz Sharif

PRIME MINISTER MUHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF ADDRESSING THE NATION ON 22nd APRIL 2016.

ISLAMABAD (APS) April 22, 2016- Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in his address to the nation on Friday, said he will resign and go home if proven guilty by the Panama Papers probe.

“I challenge all those who allege tax fraud to come forward and present evidence. If charges are proved against me, I will resign immediately,” vowed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif addressed the nation on Friday in regards to the investigation being carried out related to the Panama Leaks and announced that he will write a letter to the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court (SC) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali to form a judicial commission to probe into the Panama Leaks, reported APS News.

PM stated that his entire life is like an open book, which is there to be interpretted. He said that he loves the land of the country as he was born and raised here. PM Nawaz said that attempts are being made to destabilise the country.

He added that the allegation placed through Panama Leaks are 22 years old and that the urge of certain people to attain authority is leading the country towards destability. He said that it was decided to make a commission under a retired judge. PM Nawaz stated that his family has been paying taxes for a long period of time.

“People are of Pakistan have awareness”, he said, adding that the media of the country is independent and needs to take into account the reality of the matter. He said that he will relinquish his designation if the allegations levelled against him are proven true.

Referring towards certain opposition parties, he said that “those who attacked the Parliament are now talking about the rule of law” and that “those individuals who do not have any businesses fly in (private) jets”. He added that he is ready to be accounted in regards to every penny earned as he has done this in the past and will continue doing so in the future.
