LAHORE:(APS)April 9, 2016-Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says the government is giving priority to higher education and has enhanced allocations for it to 78 billion rupees.
Addressing a function in Lahore today, he said three universities will be made functional along the Western Route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor project this year.
He said China is investing thirty five billion dollars in energy sector to help overcome electricity crisis in Pakistan. Power projects worth eleven billion dollars are being installed in Sindh and that of nine point one billion dollars in Balochistan.
The Minister said completion of western route of CPEC will usher in a new era of progress and development especially in the backward areas.
He said the CPEC will also attract foreign investment and now the international institutions are also declaring Pakistan a safe haven for investment.
Addressing the meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said work on all China Pakistan Economic Corridor related projects is in progress speedily.
He said C-PEC related power projects will be completed during the next twenty seven months.
Chief Minister said under construction power plants will start generating electricity by the end of next year.
