ISLAMABAD:(APS)September 9, 2016-PML-N says the opposition, not the government, is responsible for any delay in investigation into the Panama leaks allegations.
This was stated by PML-N leaders Daniyal Aziz, Talal Chaudhry and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in a news conference in Islamabad on Friday afternoon.
Daniyal Aziz said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif wrote to the Supreme Court for an inquiry commission into the Panama leaks immediately after its disclosure, but the opposition continuously changed its demands for investigations expressing no confidence on the institutions.
He said the government also prepared draft of a comprehensive law replacing the 1956 Inquiry Commission Act after the Supreme Court declared it ‘toothless.’ He said the new proposed law has full powers and provides for across the board accountability. Whereas, the bill drafted by the opposition is specific for the Prime Minister and his family, implying mala fide intentions.
Daniyal Aziz said people understand the U-Turns, twisting of facts, and somersaults of PTI and the sincerity shown on part of the government on the issue, and they cannot be misguided by lies. He said it is the not government but the opposition that is afraid of investigations into the Panama leaks because many opposition leaders, including Imran Khan, Jahangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, Pervaiz Elahi have been named among the owners of offshore companies.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said PTI’s popularity is continuously shrinking, which is evident from the party’s rallies. He said Imran Khan should focus on delivering to people in Khyber Pakhunkhwa for winning their hearts instead of using the tools of propaganda and media to gain popularity.
Talal Chaudhary said that PTI caused huge damage to the national institutions during their last sit-ins in Islamabad. He said PTI is again planning rally in Lahore in near future. He said Imran Khan will be responsible for any kind of human or material loss during the rallies.
