ISLAMABAD: (APS)August 8, 2016-The government has failed to protect journalists. Terrorism has become a scourge which should be a concerted effort to end.
He said that must come on roads to protect journalists. He added that in the last few years have greatly increased mortality of journalists.
He added that no measures were taken by the government and media owners for the protection of journalists’ lives.
This was stated by president of the National Press Club Shakeel Anjum said while addressing a protest at the killing of journalists and lawyers against a bomb blast in Balochistan.
Shakeel Anjum President of the National Press Club said that the tragic incident in Quetta and journalistic organizations and government to develop a plan of action to save the lives of journalists and through unity and solidarity can combat the scourge of terrorism.
Former President of the PFUJ Afzal Butt said that terrorism is the common enemy and demonstrated today against the tragic incidents of terrorism in Quetta.
He said that we will have to fight together with the government and other institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of the National Press Club, Imran Yaqoob Dhillon said that the today’s incident is barbaric and tragic and we all must strive to provide protection of journalists.
He said that in order to protect the journalist’s life and requires the coordinated action in this regard.
The explosion took place when lawyers gathered outside Emergency Ward of the hospital where the dead body of President Balochistan Bar Association, Bilal Anwar Kasi, was brought for autopsy.
Bilal Kasi was earlier shot dead by unknown gunmen on Mannu Jan Road in Quetta when he was on his way to Balochistan High Court from his home.
The killed and the injured persons included lawyers, police officials and journalists.
Balochistan Home Minister said the incidents appears to be suicide attack.
He inquired about the health of injured in today’s blast. He also visited the site of blast.
Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Ammer Riaz visited Civil Hospital Quetta.
He inspected the place of incident. He also inquired about the health of people injured in the explosion.
Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have also condemned the incident.
Talking to a private TV channel, Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri said that today is the blackest day for Balochistan.
He said RAW is involved in the incident.
The Chief Minister said that coward terrorists are now hitting soft targets.
Talking to media outside the hospital, spokesman of Balochistan government Anwar ul Haq Kakar said emergency has been imposed in all hospitals of Quetta city.
He said that all medical facilities are being provide to the injured persons.
Soon after the incident, the provincial Chief Minister called a high level meeting to take stock of the situation.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has strongly condemned the assassination of President Baluchistan High Court Bar Association Bilal Anwar Kasi and the bomb blast in Quetta.
In his message, he offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
The provincial government has already announced three day mourning against the incident.
National flag will remain at half mast on government buildings during this period.
