Discourage illegal movements in Europe: Chaudhry Nisar


ISLAMABAD:(APS)Dec 4,2015-Interior Minister has said that he would soon invite all European Ambassadors in Pakistan to deliberate on strengthening Pak-EU cooperation especially in the area of security and in dealing with the issues of mutual concern.

This he said while talking to German Ambassador Ina Lepel who called on him at Punjab House today.

Pak-German bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, Pak-EU Re-admission Agreement, new policy for INGOs was discussed during the meeting besides regional situation.

Talking to the German Ambassador, the Minister observed that Pakistan values its friendly relations with Germany and wants to further strengthen this relationship in all possible areas for the mutual benefit of the two countries. While acknowledging the support of Germany in socio-economic development of Pakistan, the Minister assured the German Ambassador of all possible support towards her efforts in cementing Pak-Germany equation during her tenure.

Discussing Pak-EU Re-admission Agreement, the Interior Minister said that the stance of the Government vis-a-vis the issue of deportees was aimed at not only ensuring that international laws are followed by all the concerned parties but also to make sure that basic human rights of the deportees are protected. In that, the minister added, we are committed to ensure that such people who are involved in any violation of immigration laws of Pakistan or any other country and their facilitators are brought to book. The Interior Minister said that the Government of Pakistan acknowledges the concerns of the European Union regarding the issue of illegal migrants and is trying to discourage illegal movement to European countries through a crackdown on human smuggling rings within and outside Pakistan.

The German ambassador while appreciating Interior Minister’s stance, said that the two countries may also explore possibility of a separate protocol on the issue of deportees.

Talking about the new policy regarding INGOs, the Interior Minister observed that the new policy is aimed at further strengthening Government-INGOs partnership. He said that it is encouraging to see a large number of international NGOs applying for registration with the Government as per the new policy. The German ambassador appreciated the efforts of the Interior Minister for streamlining the working of the INGOs in the country and expressed the hope that his ministry would continue to provide all possible assistance to the INGOs in their mission to serve the people in various sectors.

Ms. Lepel said that Germany values its ties with Pakistan and the Government and the people of Germany are keen to strengthen their equation with Government and people of Pakistan.
