LAHORE (APS) – Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Saturday said that a handful of ‘corrupt rulers’ have held the country hostage, adding that Jamaat will run a movement for women’s rights, APS News reported.
He was addressing at the second day – featuring women’s session – of the three-day gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan ground in Lahore.
A large number of women belonging to the Jamaat participated in the gathering.
Sirajul Haq said that the ‘fight of civilizations’ is continued today and that a handful of the ruling elite has held the whole country hostage.
He said there are people in Pakistan who feed pulao to even their animals. He said the people should decide if they want ‘American society’ or ‘Islamic society’.
Other Jamaat leaders including former chief Syed Munawwar Hassan also addressed the gathering. Jamaat Islami Hind’s chief Maulana Jalaluddin Umri opened the second day by recitation of hadiths.
Hafiz Idrees gave Quranic lecture on the topic of leading life as per the teachings of Islam.
Jamaat’s Secretary General Liaquat Baloch gave a presentation on the history of Jamaat Islami along with the annual report.
