ISLAMABAD:(APS)July 20, 2016-Black Day is being observed on Wednesday across the country and on both sides of Line of Control to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and lodge protest against grave human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.
Rallies and functions are being held across the country and Azad Kashmir to draw attention of the world community towards the burning issue of Kashmir.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged India to grant right to self-determination to Kashmiris as pledged by it before the world community.
In a message on the occasion of black day on Wednesday (July 20) against atrocities of Indian security forces in occupied Kashmir, he said no state can be allowed to trample human rights in the name of political interests and state strategy.
The Prime Minister said Kashmir cannot be considered internal affair of India as the United Nations has declared it a dispute and India itself made a commitment to hold plebiscite to determine will of the Kashmiri people.
Nawaz Sharif pointed out that if the issue of human rights violations in other countries can be raised at UN and other forums then why not the issue of human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.
He said Pakistan cannot remain oblivious to Indian atrocities against people in Occupied Kashmir.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan stands firmly with Kashmiri brethren at this hour of trial and would fight their case vigorously on diplomatic, political and human rights fronts.
While Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed said that Kashmiri voice is being pressed in India.
He expressed these views while addressing a Kashmir rally in Islamabad. He said that People’s lives are being lost to turn off voice of Kashmir. We want to stir the conscience of the world to celebrate the Black Day.He said that they want justice and remind the world that they were promised were not completed with Kashmiris.
All officials of federal and provincial governments are wearing black arms band while on duty to express political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris.
Special prayers would also be held after Zohar prayer for martyrs of Kashmir.
In big cities banners have been displayed at conspicuous places inscribing slogans in favour of the Kashmiris freedom struggle. These include ‘dawn with Indian occupation’, ‘stop atrocities against Kashmiris’, ‘grant right of self-determination to Kashmiris’ and ‘international community should take notice of human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir’.
Black Day against the Indian security forces atrocities on innocent Kashmiri people in the Occupied Kashmir is also being observed in Lahore like other parts of the country.
A large number of political, social, academic and non-governmental organizations are observing this day to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people in Occupied Kashmir. Special functions, seminars and protest rallies are being taken out by various organizations to record the protest.
