LONDON (APS)Nov 17,2015 Senior journalist ,analyst and renowned TV anchor, Reham Khan on Tuesday has said that following my marriage with Khan, the whole country got involved in my private affairs.
In an article in British newspaper, Reham said that women in our society generally complain of an interfering mother-in-law or sister-in-law, but being the national ‘bhabi’ (sister-in-law), meant the whole country was my in-laws.
Reham Khan said that it was no one but us who were responsible for the breakdown of relationship and clarified that Imran Khan’s sisters had nothing to do with it.
She further complained that several key leaders of PTI ran campaign against her, forcing her to stay away from politics and party matters. She said that she at once decided to not take any part in politics which was also appreciated by Khan.
She said that being Mrs Imran Khan couldn’t protect her, not even the divorce announcement stopped the hate campaign waged in the press to demolish her character.
She stated that for over a year media has been maligning her and the only way she was told to respond was to ignore. She stated that the people became mere spectators and no one actually stepped up in her defense.
Imran’s ex-wife expressed her dejection over people’s attitude towards her. She had criticised media for hurling baseless allegations at her.
‘I watched in dismay how the media spared no personal details to feed their bulletins – including flashing my children’s birth certificates on their screens,’ she added.
Reham also expressed her time as the wife of Pakistan’s legendary cricketer and politician in a very emotional way by saying ‘love isn’t always about hanging on. Sometimes it’s about letting go’.
The Pakistani cricket legend-turned-politician and the 42-year-old TV journalist announced their decision of divorce on October 30, 10 months after their marriage.
