PESHAWAR: (APS) JAN 23,2016– Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa has on Saturday said that the Charsadda attack was controlled from Afghanistan. He said that the name of the facilitators could not be revealed as yet, reported APS News.
Briefing the media is Peshawar today, DG ISPR presented all the terrorists. He also told that there was a reporter inside Pakistan who kept the terrorists updated about all the developments but said that he couldn t name him as yet.
DG ISPR told that one facilitator brought the terrorists to Mardan. He said that all four terrorists were killed during the operation. He told that the terrorists entered Pakistan through Torkham Border in the guise of common people and reached Mardan through public transport. Facilitators named Adil and Riaz kept the terrorists in a rented house in Mardan on Charsadda Road. A facilitator named Noor Ullah dropped the terrorists at a field near Bacha Khan University (BKU) in a rickshaw. He told that the terrorists were trained in Afghanistan. Adil and Riaz helped the terrorists buy weapons from Darra Adam Khel. Adil was employed at the university as a mason. He spied on the university on behalf of the terrorists and provided them with the map. Bajwa told that niece and wife of one of the terrorists were also involved in buying weapons. He told that the women brought the weapons to Charsadda, wearing Burqas. He added that normally the women wearing Burqas are not checked by the security agencies.
Bajwa told that the attack was being operated from Afghanistan. Commander of the terrosist was Umar Narray and he, along with his deputy, was directing the terrorists while sitting in Afghanistan. He said that the terrorists murdered in the attack, named Amir ur-Rehman, belonged to South Waziristan while the other three were not yet identified.
Facilitators of the attack Mistri Adil, Riaz and Noor Ullah have been arrested, said DG ISPR, and all of the terrorists have been identified. The facilitators of the terrorists Riaz, Noor Ullah Ibrahim, Adil Mistri and Zia Ullah were presented before the media on this occasion.
Asim Bajwa told during the briefing that Charsadda attack was being controlled from Afghanistan and 10 calls were made between the facilitators. One of the calls was traced during the attack which was made by a facilitator from Afghanistan number 0093774021675 to a reporter in Pakistan. The terrorist told that reporter that the people who have attacked the university in Charsadda were his men. The reporter responded saying that it was a university and the matter looked like the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar. “It s true”, the terrorist said, “but these people are part of the same system due to which we are being targeted”. When the terrorist was asked how many people had broken into the university, he replied that there were 4 people and were all in contact with him.
The terrorist told the reporter that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) will shortly release the video claiming the responsibility for the attack. The reporter asked him if the terrorists inside the university were suicide attackers. The terrorist told that all of them were suicide attackers and were named Umar, Usman, Ali and Abid. When the reporter told him that two of the terrorists were dead, the terrorist replied that the information was wrong and only one of them had died while the other three were still carrying out the operation.
Responding to a question, Asim Bajwa said that there are loopholes in our society as the facilitators of the terrorists always come from within the society. He said that the terrorists are now attacking the soft targets.
Major General Asim Bajwa said that terrorism isn t a local phenomenon. He said that it was a global phenomenon and all the countries are fighting it. He said that if terrorists are operating in Afghanistan, Pakistan can only act inside its own territory. He said that Pak-Afghan border is 2600 kilometers long and is vulnerable despite strict surveillance.
