AFIGP to keep its focus on police reforms in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:The Executive Committee of Association of Former Inspectors General of Police (AFIGP) today here in Islamabad has decided to keep its lens focus on the Future of Police Reforms in Pakistan and set police reforms, professional and capacity building of its future agenda and program of 4th retired Inspectors of General (IGPs) conference which to be held in March 2018.

The meeting was held in AFIGP head office in Islamabad and its president Iftikhar Rashid presided over the meeting. Kamal Uddin Tipu the Secretary General presented annual progress report of the Association. He told the Executive Committee about the steps taken to enhance association network in provinces. He told in this connection the elections of AFIGP Karachi Sind and Peshawar KP chapters were held to constitute respective regional bodies. AFIGP Sind and KP Chapters have become functional Think Tanks. He also informed that Lahore Punjab Chapter could not be established in 2017. But in this connection Tariq Pervez a former IG has been appointed focal person to conduct election as soon as possible in Lahore.

The Executive Committee regarding activities of AFIGP, decided a special session of the executive committee shall be convened to further discuss and refine the calendar of events and future activities of AFIGP.

Member Executive Committee former IG Saud Gohar presented a list of proposed future activities for AFIGP. This shall be circulated to all the EC members. All the other members can also put forward their proposals via email.

Former IG Saiyed Mohib Asad informed the EC that 3rd Retired IGPs Conference Report has gone in print. This report is a brief account of issues of police department, legal complications, traditional practices, police reforms, police professional and capacity issues, recommendations and way forwards. The Report shall also be posted on AFIGP website.

Former IGP Afzal Ali Shegri who was the architect of Police Order 2002, told that the fourth 1-day Retired IGPs Conference 2018 shall be held before Ramadan in the month of March, 2018. The theme of the conference shall be Future of Police Reforms in Pakistan. He also informed that negotiations are under way with information technology organization to improve the AFIGPs website.

The meeting decided to develop close and active coordination with Foreign Law Enforcement Community FLEC at Islamabad as AFIGP and FLEC share many common objectives. The next introductory meeting between EC and FLEC was proposed to be held by the middle of January, 2018.

The meeting resolved that arrangement will be made to get membership for EC AFIGP inInternational Association of Chiefs of Police IACP and to secure AFIGP representation in the next meeting of IACP.

Member Executive Committee  Dr. Shoaib Suddle briefed that AFIGP shall prepare a one pager in bullets on the generic training needs of the Police by the end of January 2018.

The Executive Committee was attended by AFIGPs president Iftikhar Rasshid, Vice President Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Secretary General Kamal Uddin Tipu along with executive members Saiyed Mohib Asad, Afzal Shegri, Dr. Shoaib Suddle and Saud Gohar. • Free Website Templates - Downlaod Full Themes
