Acting President Rabbani asks PM to suspend death penalty in Ramazan

ISLAMABAD:(APS) June 18, 2015;Acting President and Chairman Senate, Mian Raza Rabbani has written a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday asking him to suspend execution of death convicts during the holy month of Ramazan.

In response, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed concerned authorities to temporarily suspend execution of death sentences scheduled during the month of Ramazan to observe the sanctity of the holy month.

 Directions in this regard have been issued to the Ministry of Interior and provincial governments by the Prime Minister to make sure that death penalties are not carried out during Ramazan.
