ISLAMABAD:(APS)A delegation of Overseas Pakistanis led by Sajjad Haider Karim, Member European Parliament visited Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Head Office on Wednesday and met with Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Mir Amir Ali Khan Magsi and Managing Director, OPF, Habib Ur Rehman Khan. The delegation was accompanied with Syed Qamar Raza, Member OPF Board of Governors from UK and other prominent overseas Pakistanis from United Kingdom and Europe.
Managing Director OPF, Habib Ur Rehman Khan welcomed the distinguished members of the delegation and briefed them about various welfare activities of OPF. He informed the delegation that OPF has been starving to provide more facilities to overseas Pakistanis and their dependents in all walks of life including health, education, housing and other departments. MD, OPF also congratulated Sajjad Haider Karim on receiving Sitara-e-Quaid-i-Azam by the Government of Pakistan due to his contributions and services for Pakistani community abroad as well as in Pakistan.
The head of the delegation, Sajjad Haider Karim lauded the efforts of OPF for the welfare of Pakistani diasporas. He expressed his hope that direction of the country has been set on right track which will leads towards development and prosperity. He thanked the Government of Pakistan for honoring him with Sitara-e-Quaid-i-Azam. He also thanked MD, OPF for providing this opportunity.
Talking on this occasion, the Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee, Mir Amir Ali Khan Magsi congratulated Sajjad Haider Karim on his achievements as well as Sitara-e-Quaid-i-Azam. He further said that the government is fully aware about the problems and hardships being faced by Pakistani expatriates. He said that grievances of overseas Pakistanis are being addressed on priority basis. He assured his full support in redressing the issues of overseas Pakistanis.
The members of the delegation demanded that overseas Pakistanis should be given right to vote and right to contest in elections. The questioned if a Pakistani origin can become member of the Parliament of UK and EU then why he has been deprived to become member of the Parliament in Pakistan due to dual nationality.
