ISLAMABAD:(APS) July 22, 2017- A prominent scholar & chairman of the Archeological and Historical Association of Pakistan Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi has said that on cultural basis Islamabad is a 4000 old city, a comprehensive policy should chalked out to preserve the cultural & literary heritage of the federal capital. He chaired meeting of program committee Archeological and Historical Association of Pakistan which held today. Dr. Mehdi said that due to negligence of the CDA, 1000 years old mosque constructed by Muslim emperor Shahab Uddin Ghouri on Margla Hills had been demolished last month. 3500 old Budha Caves had been demolished. Only one cave is remaining now. The battle field before Sadabagh where Ambhi Raja of Taixla surrenders before alexander is in a shabby condition. Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed said that CDA had criminally demolished. Ziarat of PUNJ PEER & 700 years old fountain of Hazarat Baba Fareed uddin Ganj Shakar near zero point. He said the cultural sights of Lohi Danda & Saaid pur are been neglected. Prof. Farooq Solungi said that there is a need of one library & dispensary in every sector of the federal capital. Prof. Sarwar Iftekhar suggested a lift should be erected from Marghzar to Persohawa. Dr. Saad Rana stated that culture & literature are not included in the job description of the Federal Capital. Mr. Ihsan Kibriya suggested on the bases are leading intellectual & cultural experts, A committee should be constituted under the chairmanship of the Lord Mayer of Islamabad to preserve the cultural & literary heritage.
