Merit policy to be on top priority in policing affairs; says IGP Tariq Masood Yasin

ISLAMABAD:(APS)April 14, 2016- Inspector General of Police Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin has directed all police officials to resolve public complaints purely on merit and adopt courteous attitude with people for promoting friendly police culture.

In his maiden address to police officials after assuming the charge of IGP office, Tariq Masood Yasin said that corruption and bribe practices would not be tolerated at all and police officials would have to work like a team with honest attitude.

Senior police officials including DIG, AIGs, SSPs, SPs, ASPs, DSPs were also present on the occasion. The IGP Islamabad said that courteous behavior should be adopted with citizens so that they may feel sense of closeness and confidence.

Merit policy should be top priority of all police officials and public complaints to be addressed with honesty, he added. The IGP also focused for enhancing coordination among all wings of Islamabad police and timely sharing of information to counter any challenge.

He said that Islamabad police team would have to work like an organized force so that effective protection to the lives and property of citizens may be ensured.

The IGP also focused to have effective check and balance system wihtin police department and resolving the problems of policemen by their officials for better output.

The contacts with notables in any particular locality should be improved to inculcate friendly policing culture. It would help to ensure peace and prevention of crime by timely sharing any suspicious activity in particular area, he added.

Later, the IGP also addressed the police officials and employees at Police Line Headquarters and said that real administrators of police force are its `jawans’. If they are not part of the force, he said  the others are like water bubbles.

He said no change is possible without support of jawans and he will be proud of his employees who are backing him in accomplishment of responsibilities.  The IGP also shared his previous experience in Islamabad police and trusted that his `jawans’ would stand with him in ensuring protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

“ The attitude of Islamabad police with public is very much good but there is room for further improvement in it,” he said adding that all force would work like a team for ensuring protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

He also assured for welfare of policemen and said one day in a week will be specified for his meeting with policemen to listen their professional and personal issues. “ We all are like a family and to continue collective struggle for relief to citizens,” he said and stressed for maintaining discipline the force.
