The Prophet (SAWW) laid the foundation on high moral values of society :PM Nawaz

PRIME MINISTER MUHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF ADDRESSING THE GATHERING AT INTERNATIONAL SEERAT CONFERENCE HELD IN LAHORE ON DECEMBER 12, 2016.

LAHORE:(APS)DEC 12,2016-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged the religious scholars to play their role in elimination of root causes of  extremism in the society.

He was addressing the National Seerat Conference in Lahore on Monday.

Nawaz Sharif said Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance and it is regretable that certain elements have distorted this very image by spreading anarchy and bloodshed.

He pointed out that due to the efforts and sacrifices of the national leadership, religious scholars, armed forces and police, the hideouts of the terrorists have almost been eliminated. He said it is the responsibility of religious scholars to re-establish the link between Islam and peace by taking guidance  from the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet.

Nawaz Sharif said respect of humanity and human life isthe inevitable part of Islamic teachings and the holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) laid the foundation of a society based on high moral values.

Quoting different incidences from the life of holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him),the Prime Minister said the last Prophet gave first written constitution in the form of Misaq-e-Madina and also the first charter of human rights in his last Hajj Sermon.

Nawaz Sharif said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal had envisioned Pakistan as a modern Islamic state.

The conference was attended by scholars belonging to different religions.

The theme of the event for this year is “Interfaith harmony in light of the teaching of Islam and life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)”.

The Conference has been organized by Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony in collaboration of the Punjab Auqaf Department.

The objective of the Conference is to highlight the glorious teachings of the final messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him) and disseminate the peace message of Islam all over the world.

Leading scholars and Ulema of various Islamic schools of thought from all over the world are participating in the conference.

Addressing the Conference Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said promotion of interfaith harmony and tolerance is need of the hour as well as our collective responsibility.

He said the objective of conference is to promote inter-faith harmony and bring all religious together.

Minister of State for Religious Affairs, Peer Ameen ul Hasnaat presented the joint communique at the end of  Conference which was prepared in light of the discussions held and recommendations forwarded by all participates.

The participants agreed that followers of all faiths should respect the sacred places and personalities of other faiths.The Religious leaders of all faiths also urged to avoid issuing controversial statements and speeches.

The communique stated that all religious issues should be solved through dialogues and consultations.

It also urged the holding of religious training for the religious scholars.

The participants agreed that syllabus containing teachings of all religions should be the part of religious institutions of all faiths.

They also agreed that the word Minority should be replaced with any other suitable word to describe faiths other than Muslims.

The communique urged media to play its role to launch campaign for creation of inter-faith harmony and discourage hatred speeches.

The participants also agreed to use Meesaq e Madina and Quaid e Azam’s historical speech delivered on August 11, 1947 to achieve the goal of inter-faith harmony in the society.
