PESHAWAR:(APS)MAY 4,2016- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engr. Iqbal zafar Jhagra has said that making the youth of Pakistan skillful means providing them with opportunities to gain financial independence adding that technological advancement and industrial development is the only path to prosperity and stability for any nation. He said that our skilled youth was very talented and hoped that our youth will take Pakistan forward on strong footings. Our human capital is our biggest asset and it would be most appropriate if this asset is properly utilized by giving them technical and vocational trainings. This will not only help their families but boost their self-esteem and confidence as well, he added.
He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of National Skills Competition organized by NAVTTC here in Peshawar on Wednesday. The event was also attended by Ina Lepal, German Consulate, Jeannette Seppen, Consulate for Netherland , Jean Francois Cawtain, Consulate of European Union, Executive Director, NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Cheema, Industrialists, Heads of Training Institutes, Skilled Youth and others. The skills selected for this competition were, beautician, Dress Making, Fashion Designing, Textile Designing Fine Arts, Cooking etc. Governor distributed cash prizes of Rs. 50,000/-, Rs. 30,000/- and Rs. 20,000/- amongst the 1st 2nd and 3rd position holders of each trade. On the occasion, the Governor visited and inspected the stalls and appreciated the work of trainees.
Addressing the ceremony, Governor said Skilled Human resource is essential for running the wheels of Industrial units constantly. He said technical trainings can play a vital role in the social and economic development of our Country. “A strong commitment by the Government of Pakistan can ensure that our youth is well educated, trained and better equipped to enter in the job market with ample opportunities available to them, he said.
Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said the incumbent government has started various youth skill development programs out of which Prime Minister Youth Skill Development Program is of much importance. These training programms will not only meet the needs of the local industries but a large number of them may also get overseas jobs as a Skilled Human Capital. Resultantly, it will enhance foreign remittance of the country, he further added.
Governor said we all have to work as a nation to stabilize Pakistan and our skilled man-power can lead the country to the ultimate goals of prosperity and self reliance. In this regard the performance of NAVTTC is exemplary and deserves appreciation.
While appreciating the role of the NAVTTC, the Governor has said that this institute selected the best of the best institutes for the training programs in coordination with the Provincial TEVATAs to maintain quality and standards in the trainings. NAVTTC has organized Youth Skill Competitions throughout the Country in order to attract the youth and enhance the importance of skill trainings, he added.
Governor urged the industrialists to come forward and play their important role in making Govt’s efforts successful to alleviate poverty and bring prosperity in the country. He said we should focus towards apprenticeship opportunities in their industry and to provide on the job trainings to our skilled human capital.
On the occasion, Zulifqar Ahmad Cheema, Executive Director NAVTTC said we had conducted zonal competition among the four zones of KP that are hazara, Swat, Malakand and South districts of the province. He said, National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) organized a National Skills Competition in order to encourage and motivate youth of Pakistan to get technical Skills adding that skilled youth was the need of the hour
