ISLAMABAD:(APS) March 27, 2016- Rangers have been summoned to control the situation in Islamabad after the police were unable to control charged crowd roaming around chanting slogans and throwing stones in the federal capital, APS News reported.
According to details, the charged mob has even breached the highly guarded Red Zone and now the Rangers have been called in to control the situation.
Around 10,000 people protesting the execution of Mumtaz Qadri – a former Punjab police commando hanged last month for assassinating Punjab governor Salman Taseer – breached Islamabad’s Red Zone Sunday evening and clashed with police.
There were also reports of police using tear gas to disperse the crowd from the high-security zone outside the parliament building.
Earlier, more than 25,000 people had gathered in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh to participate in the Chehlum of Qadri.
The crowd then turned towards the heavily-barricaded capital which was patrolled by hundreds of police and paramilitary soldiers. Several major arteries leading to Islamabad were closed by authorities.
