President reiterates Pakistan’s commitment to eradicate terrorism

ISLAMABAD:(APS)March 26, 2016-President Mamnoon Hussain has expressed the confidence that lifting of international sanctions against Iran would pave the way for greater economic, trade and business relations between the two countries.

 He said this during a meeting with the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani in Islamabad on Saturday.

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Climate Change Zahid Ahmed, among others were also present during the meeting.

The President emphasized that all efforts should be made to enhance Iran-Pakistan trade and economic relations.

President Mamnoon Hussain reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eradicate extremism and terrorism and said that the Zarb-e-Azb operation will continue till elimination of the last terrorist. This will help establish peace not only in Pakistan but the whole region.

The President underlined that resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute is essential for improvement in ties with India. He urged sustained and uninterrupted dialogue is the best way to promote bilateral relations and address each other’s concerns.

The President emphasized that peace in Afghanistan is necessary and Pakistan is trying its utmost to facilitate reconciliation in Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Iran is ready to assist Pakistan in overcoming its energy needs and expand economic cooperation.

He expressed his happiness on being in Pakistan and said that both brotherly countries should cooperate with each other in every sphere.

Iranian President also paid rich tributes to the poet of the east Allama Iqbal.

Expressing pleasure over the Iranian President’s keen interest in philosophy of Iqbal, President Mamnoon Hussain said that Iqbal was a universal poet who rendered invaluable services in the realm of literature.

The President noted that in Pakistan work of Sheikh Saadi Shirazi is read with great interest and his books are also included in some religious madrasahs.

Earlier, Mr. Hassan Rouhani was warmly received on his arrival at the Aiwan-e-Sadr by President Mamnoon Hussain.
